What role does focus on a particular type of camera play in glo-bus? Here are some glo-bus simulation tips which you can use effectively.

As the first of the glo-bus simulation tips, in one round I might be focused on Entry-Level cameras, then on Multi-Feature cameras another. Another simulation gage tip is , instead of constantly seeking to maximize profits from each camera market, I suspect that one type of camera — intentionally or not — should be the main focus when it came down to localized strategy and decision-making for each year. Regional marketing factors such as promotions, pricing, and warranty period are all factors that distinctly influence only one type of camera. Product design and assembly are other ways for a company to focus its attention on only one particular type of camera.

If your objective is to be among top ranking companies in your industry (Usually from rank 1 to 3), you have to make sure you record good business performance to gain investor confidence (by way of EPS, ROE, and Stock Price), and at the same time to gain high company image rating. If one variable is to be pin point as capable of achieving both these targets, is the company market share. You can earn high profitability, while sacrificing market share. But that will result in low company image rating for you, since the market share is a key factor behind deciding your company image rating.

Therefore, the best method to get quick result is to increase your market share. If you can increase market share, you can sell more and if you are efficient enough, earn more profits. Most companies take it wrong, when they only focus on the profitability indices like EPS and ROE. They will maximize those elements, but will suffer in market share, resulting in lower overall standing at the game. But you have to keep in mind that increasing the market share is a gradual effort, where you have to move one step at a time. Here’s how to do it.

Importance of Practice Decisions in the Glo-Bus Business Strategy Game

(This is a sample text from the e-Book "Glo-Bus Glo-Bus Business Strategy Game Demystified" To buy a copy of this e-Book, click here)

Before the actual game is started, your instructor will allow you one or two decision entries for practice. Even though these practice decisions are not counted in your final evaluations, it is very important for you to get the maximum out of the opportunity. There are few fundamental mistakes done by many groups, during the practice decisions. First; taking it too much serious. If you put your best energy with the practice decision, it might give a chance for other teams to identify your strengths, and intended strategy. Therefore it is not always recommended to execute your actual strategy to the fullest operation, during the practice sessions. The other mistake a team can do is to take to too much easy. Some teams simply overlook the practice decision, and just enter few adhoc numbers during the decisions.

Our recommendation is to take the literal meaning of “practice” and get the maximum. Try different combinations of pricing, P/Q ratings, number of models etc and get a grip on how the system will respond. If you are given more than one practice decisions; don’t try the identical strategies in both sessions. For example, if you tried with a 4.5 P/Q rating for Multi-Featured cameras in the first decision (Premium product); try bringing down the P/Q rating to 3 and lowering the price in the second practice decision. Past experience suggests that, higher the P/Q rating in MF cameras; higher the price you have to keep; lower the market share; but high profit volumes through attractive margins. If the P/Q rating is lower for MF cameras, the price will be lower and you can gain high market shares. But with the lower price, you can only keep a marginal profit per unit. As a result your overall profit volume will be lower. You can try out all these scenarios in the practice decisions and get a grip on how the system responds.
